Have you experienced persistent headaches? A loss of feeling or pins & needles? Maybe double vision or dizziness? Your body may be screaming out for an adjustment to assist the nervous system. Our team at Empowering Wellness understands the importance of the relationship between the spine and the nervous system.
The nervous system is a complex communication network between our brain and the rest of our body. It has two main components a) the Central Nervous System (CNS) – controlling the brain and the spinal cord; b) the Peripheral Nervous System – controlling the rest of the nerves, collectively.
The brain sends messages down through the spinal cord which then transmits those messages to the billions of neurons in the body. The body then reacts appropriately.
The nervous system controls our movement, organ functions and also our sensory nervous system (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste). When the communication within the system is broken, the whole body can be affected.
Cells called neurons consisting of a body, legs (axon) and numerous dendrites (connectors) are what makes up the nerve structure and transmit information to other nerve cells. Dendrites collect the data from other cells and send it to the cell body while axons carry messages away from the cell body and sends the information to target cells.
There are numerous chronic and degenerative diseases of the Nervous System, some are listed below
- Alzheimer’s
- Bell’s Palsy
- Cerebral Palsy
- Epilepsy
- Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Neurofibromatosis
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Sciatica
- Shingles
Also, Tourette’s Syndrome, vertigo
Did you know that Chiropractic adjustments to the spine can help the nervous system perform better? When the spine is out of alignment it inhibits the neurons delivering the necessary messages in time for the body to react. It is important that not only the spine but the neck, hips, legs and even arms are aligned in order for the nervous system to work well. If you find you are experiencing some of the issues mentioned, don’t delay. Call us to make an appointment or feel free to book online for your chiropractic adjustment.
